Thirty

I haven't blogged for a whole week, so this could be a long one.... First of all, I'd like to post some photos from the Ekka last Sunday, starting with this weeks shadow shot of my brother. I also turned 30 this week, and partied with friends and family on Oxford St, Bulimba. I was very spoilt, and also surprised with a couple of secret BrisStyler gifts. Here I am showing off what BrisStyler Helen from Ruby 2 GoGo dropped off in my letterbox. I received a pair of black button earrings (hard to see with my new do), black new moon soda pop cuff, and a black Scooter Girl necklet. Oh and there was yummy organic milk chocolate too, but it didn't last long enough for a photo - oops. My very own My Little Sunshine bag with matching purse from Nosovich. I can't believe my husband hid this in his dresser for a month without me knowing (plus he now has his own account on Etsy lol). My mum found this book for me. I had mentioned this book to her a few months ago, totally not expecting it. So cool, looking forward to making the quilt. And the scrabble pouch. And the... Sorry had to stop myself there. This was one of the less secret presents I received from my family (I picked it out). A huge upgrade to my previous machine. Thank you xoxoxo Thank you everyone for your lovely gifts and birthday wishes this week. I truly loved feeling a bit special. Want to see Wicked Child Designs in person? Come see me at the 4zzz market next Saturday 22nd August (in the 4zzz carpark, Fortitude Valley) , from 10am-4pm. We will also be at the YDM at Southbank on September 6th. xoxo Teneale

Friday I'm in Love... 5 things

After reading Hey Harriet's blog this week, I starting thinking what 5 things make me happy.
1. My family and friends. If I didn't have them around to support me I don't know where I'd be right now. To everyone that hasn't seen me much lately, I apologise - I will be available soon !! And my husband is incredible - he puts up with my weekend marketeering, and never complains when I'm up till midnight sewing (though he really should).
2. BrisStyle makes me happy. I've been with the Brisbane craft group for almost a year now, and am very proud to be amongst such talented folk. We even have a website now, www.bris-style.com
3. Buttons. I confess - I have a button fetish. I love collecting the old vintage sort, and sifting through them like Amelie. It's a shame you can't get this same experience when buying them online, but they still look cute when they turn up. I also love wearing button earrings from Helen's shop Ruby 2 GoGo, and get the funniest comments (how on earth do you sew buttons on your ears...?). Buttons and sewing crazy little people is one of those things that keeps me happy all hours of the night.
4. Sneakers. Yes I'm a tomboy through and through. I'm not a high heels lass, no. You'd find me wearing my converse sneakers, jeans and arm warmers any day. Especially this Winter, how can anyone wear a dress right now?

5. Chocolate. I think that's pretty universal really. But I've just discovered the really nice 'organic' style chocolate. Unfortunately so has my husband...
Before I go, please head over to Bettsy Kingston's blog and enter her gorgeous fabric giveaway. Ends very very soon so get cracking. And don't forget to come to the Young Designer's Market at Southbank this Sunday 2 August. Wicked Child Designs will be making a first-time ever appearance !

Morningside Festival 2009

Tim and I have just arrived home after marketeering at the Morningside Festival, and I am ready to hit the wall.... I don't know why but I never seem to sleep before a market. All the excitement, the 'oooh are they going to like this, maybe i should do this instead...' thoughts wrecking your head, and then your alarm goes off. Argh!!! But before I head to la la land, I'm going to post some piccies up (and a shadow somewhere in amongst it). Here are a few shots of our stall today. And here is the lovely Helen from Ruby 2 GoGo with her awesome stall. Last but not least is my shadow shot taken today. This poor clown couldn't get very far on her bike without being interrupted by her mobile. Happy Shadow Shot Sunday everyone. Check out Tracey's blog Hey Harriet to find out what all this 'Shadow Shot' business is all about. xo Teneale zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Wednesday

Just as I'm starting to get used to the normality of not having to sew like crazy for the BIDM market, I received a call from BrisStyle this week. Someone else wants a pencil wrap, eeek !! These little suckers sold out so quickly on Saturday, I've had to order more fabric in. Luckily I had some cute LOVE fabric left. What I don't understand is why everyone asks "do these come with the pencils ?". I feel like saying "of course silly!", but apparently some people sell these and don't include the pencils. How very sad. I hope my lovely customer likes her pencil wrap. I think I'll have to make myself one someday soon. Colouring-in is becoming a popular hobby by the look of things... Today I am wearing my red check dress and a manic head of hair. But I still have a smile no matter how weary I am :D The lovely Helen from Ruby 2 GoGo sent me a card today, a thank you for helping make the BrisStyle market successful. I would like to thank and congratulate all the BrisStyle team too, your stalls were all very impressive and our audience loved us! And thank you Helen for your energy and spirit. xo Teneale ps. Wicked Child Designs managed to get into Rave this week, along with a few other BrisStylers last Saturday at the markets - page 33.
