Shadows...

I haven't spotted a shadow for a while. Here's one I found earlier. Well, last week.

I took this photo in Ngong Ping, near the Po Lin Monastery in Hong Kong. People put incense in these. It smells nice. If you want to see more of our trip feel free to flick through our Flickr site. It's slowly progressing.

Oh and go visit Hey Harriet's site. It's pretty ace. Tracey runs the whole shadow shot sunday discovery, and you can too.

Josh Thomas

When Tim and I went to Melbourne last month, we went saw Josh Thomas do stand up at the Lithuanian Club. He did an awesome show as always, but he didn't have time for autographs at the end. I was kinda down after that, as through the show I'd been tossing up whether or not I ask for an autograph or not. I'd never done this before, and it felt kind of a weird thing to do. And then after deciding I would, I didn't get to. The next day Tim and I went shopping at Rose St Markets and Brunswick St shops, and Tim spotted Josh going into a shop ahead of us. It was now or never - eek. Like a stalker, I followed him and got a cute autograph. Oh and on the night of the show I got this shadow shot on the ceiling of the club. Have you got a shadow shot you want to share ? Go to Hey Harriet's page and learn how to join in the Shadow Shot Sunday fun. xo Teneale

4ZZZ Radiothon

Wicked Child Designs made an appearance at the 4ZZZ Radiothon market on Saturday. The lovely Tess Curran, feature writer for Peppermint Magazine, fell in love with Kevin Rudd. May they spend the rest of their lives discussing the big challenges confronting Australia. I also found Holly and her cute store Pannikin at the market. I love her little animal necklaces and owl brooches. Katie from Miss Kitty Boo Boo also marketeered with her gorgeous hair clips, head bands and clothing. I couldn't resist a pair of Katie's lady beetle clips. I know a cute little girl that will love these for xmas. I also bought a 'sew cool' badge to replace one that had a mishap in my dryer... This is my shadow shot for this week, taken outside the 4ZZZ carpark. Want to do a shadow shot ? Get to Hey Harriett now. Right now. xo Teneale

Friday I'm in Love... 5 things

After reading Hey Harriet's blog this week, I starting thinking what 5 things make me happy.
1. My family and friends. If I didn't have them around to support me I don't know where I'd be right now. To everyone that hasn't seen me much lately, I apologise - I will be available soon !! And my husband is incredible - he puts up with my weekend marketeering, and never complains when I'm up till midnight sewing (though he really should).
2. BrisStyle makes me happy. I've been with the Brisbane craft group for almost a year now, and am very proud to be amongst such talented folk. We even have a website now, www.bris-style.com
3. Buttons. I confess - I have a button fetish. I love collecting the old vintage sort, and sifting through them like Amelie. It's a shame you can't get this same experience when buying them online, but they still look cute when they turn up. I also love wearing button earrings from Helen's shop Ruby 2 GoGo, and get the funniest comments (how on earth do you sew buttons on your ears...?). Buttons and sewing crazy little people is one of those things that keeps me happy all hours of the night.
4. Sneakers. Yes I'm a tomboy through and through. I'm not a high heels lass, no. You'd find me wearing my converse sneakers, jeans and arm warmers any day. Especially this Winter, how can anyone wear a dress right now?

5. Chocolate. I think that's pretty universal really. But I've just discovered the really nice 'organic' style chocolate. Unfortunately so has my husband...
Before I go, please head over to Bettsy Kingston's blog and enter her gorgeous fabric giveaway. Ends very very soon so get cracking. And don't forget to come to the Young Designer's Market at Southbank this Sunday 2 August. Wicked Child Designs will be making a first-time ever appearance !

My Dad the Super Hero

Last Sunday my husband and I went to the Gold Coast to see my dad run the Gold Coast Marathon. I caught him flying along near the finish. We needed some energy food to keep us focused. Tiny Teddies work a treat. And a tree looked a little too inviting not to climb.
My shadow shot this sunday is the red man at the beginning of this post. Well done Dad, and the rest of the Red Man Runners, on your huge marathon run. If you would like to join in the SSS fun, go see Hey Harriet. xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #12

Let's go shopping... at Hyperdome... No we're not going to the hyperdome, or any shopping centre for that matter. Instead, we headed to the BrisStyle Indie Designer Markets in Hamilton this weekend, and it was so much fun !! An early start is difficult in Winter, but you just have to remind yourself - there's air con in the car, there's air con in the car... Here's our stall, which got a little crowded at times (this was my one opportunity to take a photo which showed the signage). Megan from Nosovich shared the stall with us, and exhibited some of her gorgeous bags and purses. Great designs, and the best quality in workmanship. This is one of her bags, My Little Sunshine, that I personally adore (again big fan of yellow:). It will be going on my birthday wishlist... Oh and today is Sunday, so for Shadow Shot Sunday my pic is the shopping trolley at the start of this post. It was taken yesterday and quickly filled with my purchases at the market. My purchases were my first copy of Peppermint magazine (yay finally found you !), a button from Red Seed Studio (recycled from a skateboard, how rad !) and a stationery set from Twinkle Star Art. Oh and of course I couldn't pass up a cupcake from Tabitha's Place (it was morning tea time, and they were $2. Need I say more ?) Have a great Sunday everyone, and if you would like to join in the SSS fun head to Hey Harriet's blog. And if you would love to know what BrisStyle is all about head to their blog too. xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #11

This week's shadow shot is a little late as I am madly trying to get everything finished in time for the BrisStyle Indie Designer's Market next Saturday. I did get an opportunity to visit the Brisbane Vintage Fashion Fair yesterday with my husband Tim, Aidan and Dad. We had a blast trying on funny hats and laughing at all the crazy safari suits. Aidan scored a pair of cherry docs for $20, and I bought some cute buttons. On the way back through the fruit and veg markets Tim bought me some gorgeous yellow gerberas (i love yellow). To join in the SSS fun, head over to Hey Harriet's blog. And here's a sneak peak of what I'll be taking to the market next Saturday.
My new sign
Some little Ninjas, with a Crazy Terry keeping them in line. An Angry Bunny is annoyed as he has no travel buddy. Little does he know.... Ok sleepy bye time for me. See you all again hopefully on Wednesday. xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #9

It's getting very, very cold in Brisvegas. Even my budgie Fish is rugging up this winter. He still talks like mad to his mirror, probably criticising the poor food and service but it does sound nice to us. I just realised I need to prepare some cupcakes shortly for a destashing day with BrisStyle tomorrow, so thought I'd get my shadow shot in early. These were taken in East Brisbane. I drive past these trees each sunday on the way to soccer. They're starting to lose their flowers and leaves as it's getting colder. I forgot to post some beachy photos yesterday too from Bundy. The beach was so nice, Aidan and I had it all for us alone to explore. Don't forget to pop over to the BrisStyle blog to enter the giveaway this month. This month's members are Strat Designs and Raspberry Pink. There's plenty more giveaways being held on the blog too !! Happy weekend everyone. xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #7

Yesterday my brother and I painted a traffic signal box (yes we did get permission!). It's situated on the corner of Creek Rd and Garrett St in Brisbane, and our design was Happy Feet. I chose this design as the theme had to be related to Queensland, and the director of Happy Feet is a Queenslander (George Miller, born in Chinchilla). I also thought it was very cute outside a school (was a very boring grey beforehand). Aidan and I made lots of attention with the painting, being on a busy road towards the airport. Had lots of beeps and cheers which was funny. Hope everyone likes it :D I thought I'd include some photos for the SSS for you. If you would like to be involved with SSS, head over to Hey Harriet for more info (it's listed on the side of my page). And if you'd like to paint a TSB too, head over to Queensland Urban Ecology. Have a great weekend everyone, and don't forget to enter my giveaway below which finishes midnight tonight !! xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #6

It was such a lovely sunny day yesterday that my brother and I went to the local park. We got very dizzy on the twirly stand up swings until our stomachs couldn't take anymore, and bopped on the little lady bugs (normally for under 5's, but that won't stop me). We flaked out for a bit on the grass, and watched the planes fly over us like Wayne and Garth (the planes fly very close over Morningside). We then got up and climbed the huge spiderweb, and discovered we could make some funky shadows while we monkeyed around. This week my SSS entry is the below shadow shot : If you would like to join the SSS fun, head over to Hey Harriet's blog - http://www.heyharriet.blogspot.com/ Have a great Sunday everyone. xo Teneale

Shadow Shot Sunday #3

This is my entry for this week's Shadow Shot Sunday. If you would like to join in, please head over to Hey Harriet's blog to find out how. I look like an armless giant walking through the park. Hehehe.... I'm only 155cm tall, so that gives me a buzz. xo Teneale
