Rain, rain, go away....

Yes, it's raining in Brisbane.  A lot.

Rainy markets are quite scary sometimes, especially when you're not prepared (like us). So I'm making a checklist of things we MUST do and pack before the next market. And what's the first thing on that list? Marquee weights!!   Don't want my marquee going up again, no sir-ee. How freakin' scary!!

Oh well, all you can do is laugh at the end of the day. Thank you everyone that helped us out on Saturday at the BrisStyle Indie Designer's Market. The speedy race with all our stock into the hall kitchen was brilliant, and nothing got damaged which is pretty awesome too!  Fingers crossed the weather clears and brings on a dazzling night for the BrisStyle Indie Twilight Market in King George Square, Brisbane - 17 December.  Very much looking forward to it.

Friday I'm in Love

One of these days, I will put in a post on a different day.  Yes I will.  The days seem to fly so quickly lately, it's like it's Friday everyday. Wouldn't that be lovely though?!

This Friday I am super in love with Moose and Bird. In fact I have been for a long time. It just takes me a little while to process these thoughts out loud.

Moose and Bird is run by the talented little lady Melinda Hume.  She makes the cutest pear cushions, like the one pictured below.

Moose and Bird

Melinda creates lots of other pretty items too, like patchwork pillows, pincushions, and fabric dolls.

You can find us both this Saturday and Sunday at the Valley Laneway Markets in Bakery Lane from 10am till 4pm.  See you then !

Friday I'm in Love

Spring has sprung, and we're super duper excited to be at the BrisStyle Indie Designer Markets tomorrow.

One of the BrisStylers, Lemon Ink, will be there with some funky messenger style bags like this one. They're handmade from recycled materials that could have ended up as landfill, such as seatbelt straps and advertising billboards.
I love this one the most - the ACE Maxi Messenger bag.  I'm sure lots of
dads would love it this Father's Day too.

You'll find Lemon Ink, Wicked Child Designs and many other BrisStylers tomorrow at the BrisStyle market. We'll be at St Augustine's Church Hall and grounds at Racecourse Road, Hamilton, from 9am till 2pm.  And not only will you get to do some fantastic shopping, but you can also get a '2 for 1' movie pass to the new award winning indie film, 'The Kids are Alright' starring Annette Benning and Mark Ruffalo. You'll also get a bonus pass for every ticket you purchase in the big BrisStyle raffle so you can take the whole family along!  Visit the Promo table to enter, and let them know how you found out about  the market to get your free '2 for 1' ticket.

Well, I better get back to packing the car.  Teneale x

Friday I'm in Love

It's Friday, and I'm in love with anything that will keep me warm.  It's freaky cold here at the moment with all the Ekka wind blowing around.

I saw these arm warmers made by Gaye Abandon when in Melbourne last year, and am seriously considering buying some.

Yep, think I'll be ordering some this weekend.  I'll have to wear several layers and toughen up till they get to me.

Other exciting stuff happening this weekend - Wicked Child Designs will be at Valley Laneway Markets again this Sunday from 10am till 4pm. And we'll have a crazy birthday sale too - 20% off, but for bloggers only!!  Just come in and say you read my blog, and I'll take 20% off your order.   Yay!!

We'll be in Bakery Lane this time. Need a map? No problemo. Here's one below for ya.
See you all Sunday!!  Teneale x

BrisStyle Twilight Market

Thank you everyone who came to King George Square on Friday night to visit Wicked Child Designs and the rest of the BrisStyle gang. You totally rock.

The night flew so quickly, we barely got a chance to leave the stall. I did manage to pick up some wicked iced coffees from the cafe not too far away from us. Oh and I took this really bad shot of my stall. Way to go me. Oh well, at least it gives you an idea of what the stall was like if for some reason you didn't make it in there.

We're not at Young Designer's Market today, but we will be at the Valley Laneway Markets on the 8th of August.  Looking forward to it. Should be super fun.
Back to the sewing machine I go.

What's goin' on....

Hello again !

I've been busy making extra things for the BrisStyle Indie Eco Market next month.

Like bottle cap magnet sets,

and cards,

and gift tag sets from pre-loved golden books. I then made a 3 metre chain to decorate my stall with the scraps left over.

There'll be more dolls coming along too. Maybe I should book two tents...

Hope to see you there.

Wednesday

Today I wore my fave new headband from Black and Bird I picked up from the Finders Keepers market recently. I'm not much of a headband person, in fact this is my only headband. But I loved this one so much I couldn't let it go. It's made using an old measuring tape. Very sweet. Sorry I don't have a website to give you, but here is the link on Finders Keepers and her email is loni_parker@yahoo.com.au xo Teneale

Wednesday

Today I'm wearing the earrings Tim bought me last week at St Kilda markets. They look like typewriter keys, but they're actually just photocopies of them pasted onto chipboard. Might seem odd, but it saves having to rip apart a perfectly cute and usable old typewriter. Tim made me this gorgeous little thread holder too. I think I need more threads to fill it though. I love the bright yellow he used, it's so cute and happy. xo Teneale

Young Designer's Market

I did my first Young Designer's Market today at Southbank. It started off pretty normal. As the day progressed we got a bit crazy. Zoolander crazy. My brother snapped some awesome shots today. I didn't get a chance to do a shadow shot, so I thought I'd share some of his instead. He has some exceptional talent for a 16 year old. Happy shadow shot sunday everyone. Head to Hey Harriet if you would like to take part in shadow shot sunday too. xo Teneale

Wednesday

Just as I'm starting to get used to the normality of not having to sew like crazy for the BIDM market, I received a call from BrisStyle this week. Someone else wants a pencil wrap, eeek !! These little suckers sold out so quickly on Saturday, I've had to order more fabric in. Luckily I had some cute LOVE fabric left. What I don't understand is why everyone asks "do these come with the pencils ?". I feel like saying "of course silly!", but apparently some people sell these and don't include the pencils. How very sad. I hope my lovely customer likes her pencil wrap. I think I'll have to make myself one someday soon. Colouring-in is becoming a popular hobby by the look of things... Today I am wearing my red check dress and a manic head of hair. But I still have a smile no matter how weary I am :D The lovely Helen from Ruby 2 GoGo sent me a card today, a thank you for helping make the BrisStyle market successful. I would like to thank and congratulate all the BrisStyle team too, your stalls were all very impressive and our audience loved us! And thank you Helen for your energy and spirit. xo Teneale ps. Wicked Child Designs managed to get into Rave this week, along with a few other BrisStylers last Saturday at the markets - page 33.

Shadow Shot Sunday #12

Let's go shopping... at Hyperdome... No we're not going to the hyperdome, or any shopping centre for that matter. Instead, we headed to the BrisStyle Indie Designer Markets in Hamilton this weekend, and it was so much fun !! An early start is difficult in Winter, but you just have to remind yourself - there's air con in the car, there's air con in the car... Here's our stall, which got a little crowded at times (this was my one opportunity to take a photo which showed the signage). Megan from Nosovich shared the stall with us, and exhibited some of her gorgeous bags and purses. Great designs, and the best quality in workmanship. This is one of her bags, My Little Sunshine, that I personally adore (again big fan of yellow:). It will be going on my birthday wishlist... Oh and today is Sunday, so for Shadow Shot Sunday my pic is the shopping trolley at the start of this post. It was taken yesterday and quickly filled with my purchases at the market. My purchases were my first copy of Peppermint magazine (yay finally found you !), a button from Red Seed Studio (recycled from a skateboard, how rad !) and a stationery set from Twinkle Star Art. Oh and of course I couldn't pass up a cupcake from Tabitha's Place (it was morning tea time, and they were $2. Need I say more ?) Have a great Sunday everyone, and if you would like to join in the SSS fun head to Hey Harriet's blog. And if you would love to know what BrisStyle is all about head to their blog too. xo Teneale
