Short and sweet

We visited Nook last night

And came home with some goodies

One goodie being this 'fit as a fiddle' brooch for my violinist husband Tim

Tim did the Bridge to Brisbane this morning with his grandmother Birdie

He had a well deserved nap in the park

And so did Birdie

I found another birdie in the park. She shall be my shadow shot today. Visit the BrisStyle blog this week to see yours truly. I'll have a giveaway too :o

Good night xo

Friday I'm in love with... Funky Fabrics

Yes I know it's now Saturday here in Brisbane. My computer crashed last night after saving this, so I'm hoping all is okay with the world if I put it in on Saturday instead of Friday... On Thursday night I spent two hours in Myer thinking I'd buy a dress. Instead I walked out with a sub woofer alarm clock. Don't get me wrong, I love my purchase. I just get so frustrated wandering around such a huge department store and not finding what I thought to be an easy purchase - a dress. Instead I was given a choice of drab fabrics, unflattering designs, and all at ridiculously huge prices. The only things I saw that weren't too bad were on the 75% off racks, but they would involve lots of resizing, fixing of zips, etc etc. I'm a busy girl, I don't have time this week. So instead of wearing a pretty dress to the park, I shall be wearing jeans, t-shirt and jacket. I think the weather's getting cold again so it's probably not too bad. Next time I choose to wear a dress, however, I plan to make one with material from Funky Fabrics in Brisbane. Have you seen them ? If not, here's a few fabrics I've been eyeing off lately that are so lovely, I could safely say 'Funky Fabrics is my store'.
Frida's Garden Natural $13.95 AUD per 1/2 metre China Doll $13.95 AUD per 1/2 metre
Rocket Rascals
$13.95 AUD per 1/2 metre
I was happy to find patterns from fellow BrisStyle shop Bettsy Kingston in Funky Fabrics too. They are so cute !!
Bettsy Kingston Reversible Snap Pinny Pattern
$15.95 AUD
What's on tonight ?
Can't wait to check out Michelle's new store - Nook. Lots of handmade goodness and delights. Oh and of course Michelle will be there too :D How she can manage this and her own store Pedrosprout is amazing. xo Teneale

4ZZZ Radiothon

Wicked Child Designs made an appearance at the 4ZZZ Radiothon market on Saturday. The lovely Tess Curran, feature writer for Peppermint Magazine, fell in love with Kevin Rudd. May they spend the rest of their lives discussing the big challenges confronting Australia. I also found Holly and her cute store Pannikin at the market. I love her little animal necklaces and owl brooches. Katie from Miss Kitty Boo Boo also marketeered with her gorgeous hair clips, head bands and clothing. I couldn't resist a pair of Katie's lady beetle clips. I know a cute little girl that will love these for xmas. I also bought a 'sew cool' badge to replace one that had a mishap in my dryer... This is my shadow shot for this week, taken outside the 4ZZZ carpark. Want to do a shadow shot ? Get to Hey Harriett now. Right now. xo Teneale

Thirty

I haven't blogged for a whole week, so this could be a long one.... First of all, I'd like to post some photos from the Ekka last Sunday, starting with this weeks shadow shot of my brother. I also turned 30 this week, and partied with friends and family on Oxford St, Bulimba. I was very spoilt, and also surprised with a couple of secret BrisStyler gifts. Here I am showing off what BrisStyler Helen from Ruby 2 GoGo dropped off in my letterbox. I received a pair of black button earrings (hard to see with my new do), black new moon soda pop cuff, and a black Scooter Girl necklet. Oh and there was yummy organic milk chocolate too, but it didn't last long enough for a photo - oops. My very own My Little Sunshine bag with matching purse from Nosovich. I can't believe my husband hid this in his dresser for a month without me knowing (plus he now has his own account on Etsy lol). My mum found this book for me. I had mentioned this book to her a few months ago, totally not expecting it. So cool, looking forward to making the quilt. And the scrabble pouch. And the... Sorry had to stop myself there. This was one of the less secret presents I received from my family (I picked it out). A huge upgrade to my previous machine. Thank you xoxoxo Thank you everyone for your lovely gifts and birthday wishes this week. I truly loved feeling a bit special. Want to see Wicked Child Designs in person? Come see me at the 4zzz market next Saturday 22nd August (in the 4zzz carpark, Fortitude Valley) , from 10am-4pm. We will also be at the YDM at Southbank on September 6th. xoxo Teneale

Some items that caught my eye this week, all made in Brisbane...
Pink Bird Mini Clutch, $28 US on Etsy Nosovich

Mushrooms Tea Towel, $26 AUD Thea and Sami

Organic Wonder Washer, $25 AUD Biddy Bags
Living in Brisbane has some advantages. One being that there are plenty of great crafters around of course. Another is that we have an Ekka holiday next Wednesday. Gotta love a short work week. And now for some breaking news.... Wicked Child Designs made it into the local rag. Thank you Jacqui Zetti !! Also, head over to my etsy shop for 15% off and free postage in Australia, as I am taking part in the Etsy Ekka Extravaganza Sale ! Ends August 15th. xo Teneale

Young Designer's Market

I did my first Young Designer's Market today at Southbank. It started off pretty normal. As the day progressed we got a bit crazy. Zoolander crazy. My brother snapped some awesome shots today. I didn't get a chance to do a shadow shot, so I thought I'd share some of his instead. He has some exceptional talent for a 16 year old. Happy shadow shot sunday everyone. Head to Hey Harriet if you would like to take part in shadow shot sunday too. xo Teneale
